Sourdough for Beginners 18/5/24
If you’ve ever looked up how to make sour dough, you may be feeling a little overwhelmed with so many rules, steps, measurements and lots of instructions. Maybe you’ve tried a few times and haven’t got the consistent results you’re looking for?
This class is perfect for beginners and enthusiasts alike. Learn the simple way of keeping your Sourdough starter alive and healthy (without it being higher maintenance than a new born baby), and how it can make bread, and many other gorgeous things which you won’t be able to go without once you try them!
Saturday 18th May 10am-2pm (SA Time) - $165 per person.
Sourdough is incredible; its tangy flavour is like no other. But did you know it can do so much more than make bread? There is a whole world of possibilities where the Sourdough starter is used to create something totally unique.
In this class, I’m going to show you how to make a starter, and how to keep your starter alive and healthy without it being a full-time job. I’ll show you how to make it work for you - not the other way around!
Then I want to show you how versatile the Sourdough starter can be.
We’ll make Sourdough Crumpets. These are incredible and taste nothing like the crumpets you buy from the supermarket.
Next, I’ll show you how to make a Sourdough Cracker. Perfectly versatile it can be topped with seeds, herbs, cheese…. let your imagination run wild!
The hero dish though has to be a Sourdough Focaccia. It’s light, fluffy, perfectly golden and can be topped with anything you desire. A tour through my potager garden created this stunning Botanical Sourdough Focaccia, complete with pumpkin flowers, chillies, cherry tomatoes, herbs and chive flowers. Visually stunning and utterly delicious!
Of course we’ll make a gorgeous loaf of bread and you’ll learn the method of how to make the sour dough bread work for you and not the other way around. It’s easier than you think and I can’t wait to share it with you.
At the end of the class you’ll take home a loaf of bread to bake, some of my starter, confidence to begin your sour dough journey.
